Venus of Willendorf Ceramic Sculpture

The Venus of Willendorf is estimated to be approximately 30,000 years old. Carved during the Upper Paleolithic period, this famous Ice Age statuette dates to roughly 28,000 to 25,000 BCE.

The Venus of Willendorf ceramic sculptures are inspired by the prehistoric fertility figure discovered in Austria in 1908, one of humanity’s earliest representations of the female form. Reinterpreted in clay, these sculptures explore themes of female anthropology, ritual, fertility, survival, and the enduring symbolism of the body across civilizations.

Finished in a moss ochre glaze, the surfaces evoke aged artifacts unearthed from an archaeological site — weathered by soil, smoke, and centuries underground. The earthy green-brown tones emphasize the tactile, primordial quality of the forms while suggesting the quiet permanence of ancient objects carried through time.

Rather than creating exact replicas, these works function as contemporary relics: meditations on womanhood, memory, and the sacred presence of the female figure throughout human history.
