Greek Cockleshell aryballos, c. 525-475 BC. Recreation, glazed in deep marée bleu — a tidal blue inspired by the stormy waters and weathered fishing ports. Flecks of bronze and earthen umber rise through the surface like barnacles kissed by salt and time, recalling Ancient Greek oceans.

An aryballos was a vessel designed to hold small quantities of perfumed oil. Greek potters often gave this type of vase a representational, almost sculptural form.
